Description

As I started to play this guitar I was immediately pleased and impressed with her smooth, clear and defined voice. She has a lovely creamy character in the treble with rounded notes and a warm glowing resonance that does not dampen the clarity in any way, and she is beautifully balanced for a guitar in this price range.

In Lagrima by Tarrega I enjoyed the warm and engaging, singing melody line. The tone quality is reliable across the range of the fingerboard and does not become thin in the higher register or as you emphasize the melody. This means that the notes are well supported within the guitar and are ready to blossom and grow as the spruce top starts to work with playing.

The basses are great – firm under the right hand fingers with plenty of body and intensity that gives you a good balance between attack and depth of sound.

I was particularly struck with the balance of the guitar. I experimented with Carcassi Op 60 no.1 and was impressed with the evenness and control moving around the fingerboard. She is not a flamboyant or showy instrument. The player can clearly hear and control the sound while being safe in the knowledge that the tone is smooth and projecting clearly.

Overall I would describe her voice as beautiful, sweet and smooth with clear warmth.

As I played Sonata Op 15 by Giuliani I had great fun working with the different textures and colours. The clarity of the guitar really helps to bring out the details in the music, which in turn brings out the drama.

A lovely guitar for developing your musical voice.
