D'addario Strings.

It began over two hundred years ago in salle, Italy.
Using their most valuable tools in this small sheep grazing community, their hands, the D'addario family began to produce gut strings for lutes, violins, and other assorted instruments.
The craft was handed from generation to generation, and things remained largley unchanged until 1905, when Charles D'addario brought the family knowledge to America. The Industrial Revolution was sweeping the world, and though instrument strings had remained primarily hand manufactured, change was inevitable. New techniques and materials were discovered which would bring the industry into a new era. Charles' son, John, followed his lead, and his grandsons, John, Jr and James, have since brought the company to an unprecedented level.
D'Addario has never kept up with modern manufacturing techniques; we've created them. High-tech materials, state of the art equipment, and space age electronics now fill the D'Addario factory. Devices like the Tension Control System ensure consistency in every one of the 300,000 strings produced daily, and processes such as laser selection put D'Addario on the cutting edge in the industry. String making has already entered the 21st century at D'Addario, and although the science of the technological age has taken string production to the heights never before reached, the art of the process has not been forgotten. It has simply evolved.
