Hi Adrian,

Well it’s been four days since I left Stafford Guitar with the Bernabe M15 after a gruelling 4 hours of trying the many different makes and models on offer.

It was quite an experience to be able to play and compare guitars from a range of different makers and so I would like to thank Stafford Guitar and in particular I would like to thank Sandra for the time she took in helping me find the ‘right' guitar for me. Her help, advice and playing was invaluable. I really love the Spruce Bernabe M15 and I am in no doubt I have in my hands a really superb guitar. One thing I have noticed is the tonal stability on all strings across the whole fretboard. Its a really comfortable and supportive guitar, as opposed to my previous 'auction site' guitar which I always felt like I was fighting with.
Many many thanks
David.

Hi Adrain & Sandra,

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say how pleased I am with my new M-10 and to thank you both for the advice and service you provided. She really is a lovely guitar to play with a beautiful tone. The bases are deep and resonant and are balanced beautifully against rich, warm trebles which are growing in clarity and character every time I play. I’ve been experimenting with different strings over the last few weeks however so far I’ve found nothing that compares to Bernabe’s own Especial Strings. They really bring out the expressive character of the guitar beautifully right across the fret board. I’ve also been pleasantly surprised with the sound production. It doesn’t take much effort with the right hand to fill the room with sound although I don’t think the neighbours are too happy with that particular aspect. I wanted a guitar that I could grow into over time and this certainly fits the bill.

I went to Stafford Guitars a few days back and tried an number of their guitars in my price bracket, including the Bernabe M5 and M10. (Thanks to Adrian and Selina for the help!)

I played the Bernabe against a Contreras, a Carillo, a handmade English guitar by John Hall, and another Bernabe. They all have their own character. Each is beautifully made and eminently playable. The difference between the different guitars was most noticeable in the hearing (rather than the playing,

Upon arrival I carefully and hopefully inspected my Bernabe especial guitar for shipping damages, and thankfully there were none. The especial model proved to be as beautiful as the pictures in the website with magnificent grained rosewood back and sides, a gorgeous European spruce top and wonderfully intricate rosette and piping along the perimeter of the guitar. A true beauty. I quickly asked my guitar teacher to help me tune it so that I could hear and play it properly.

Dear Adrain, Selina, Sandra

Firstly I must apologise for not getting in touch before now. Having got back into playing after a 10 year lay-off I wanted an instrument I could really grow and improve with. It has been just over a year since I purchased the Bernabe M20 from Stafford Classical guitar, replacing my tired and worn-out Aranjues which I aquired in 1979. I took a number of years deciding what and where to buy, travelling to different music stores

Dear Adrain,

Just a quick note to thank you for spending all that time time with me yesterday and explaining all the things that no one has ever explained so well before! Playing my Oscar Teller Model 5, 1965, last night (yes, the fog did clear and my hands started working again!),

Hi Adrian Many thanks for asking for my comments on the Bernabe Especial.

At the price point of this guitar there is a vast choice of superb handmade instruments both new and used available. Guitars from British, German, Italian, Spanish luthiers and more. I knew that the sound I wanted was that of a "Spanish" guitar. I already owned a Bernabe M10 - so I was looking for that type of sound. However, I decided I would try a range of instruments. Of course Stafford guitar made this task much easier, and my previous experience with the M10 made this part of the purchase very easy.

I took a bit of time for the feedback because I wanted to see how the guitar evolves over the first couple of weeks. I am new to Classical Guitar. I am just 8 months into my lessons on a basic Alhambra 2C and my feedback is from my ABRSM Grade 3 background.

My search, identification and purchase of the Bernabe M5 were purely based on research and communication over the internet. In fact, I never thought that I would buy an expensive guitar (by Indian Standards) online, without seeing, playing, hearing, feeling or smelling it (I love the smell of new guitar wood)... from unknown people at that! I started online dialogues with 3 European Classical Guitar stores and eventually selected http://www.staffordguitar.com based on my requirements and my dialogue first with Adrian and then with Sandra.

Hi there-

many apologies for the delay in writing to you about the bernabe m5 I purchased a while ago - just to let you know I am very happy with my purchase - the m5 is the first all solid woods guitar I have bought and now with this there is no going back!

Hi Sandra

I’d like to say how impressed I was when I was there in May by the way I was treated; both Adrian and yourself were so friendly and helpful, and I didn’t feel pushed or rushed to make a decision. Its a very relaxed environment which allows the guitars to speak for themselves, and I have no regrets about choosing the Paulino Bernabe M5 cedar, even though it stretched my budget substantially!

Hello Adrian,

just got back to basel and take this opportunity to thank you and selina so much for the effort you went to in showing me so many spanish guitars. My method of selection was bizarre but I am so grateful for the effort you took. Selina's expert playing gave me the opportunity to hear each guitar in detail and concentrate on hearing the sound, not my mistakes.

Hi, Sandra!

Now that I've had the Bernabe for a week, here is the promised report/feedback:

The guitar is absolutely stunning, both in looks and tone. The rosewood back is beautiful (I keep looking at it in the middle of practicing :) ), and the top is lovely, too. The tuners are very smooth. The tone, wow, just wow!
